River Cruisin'

Hudson River & East River around Manhattan, New York,  NY

Tappan Zee & New NY Bridges

Recently my day-job company celebrated its 40th Anniversary, and as part of the celebration we spent an afternoon on the water as we cruised around Manhattan. Our founder had a great time pointing out projects that we had completed in and around the city, and the rest of us got to sit back to enjoy the beautiful weather, not to mention the view!

George Washington Bridge

Brooklyn & Manhattan Bridges

As you can probably tell, I have a thing for bridges. We passed every single bridge that enters Manhattan and seeing them from the water always gives me a new appreciation for the engineering behind them.

Williamsburg Bridge

Henry Hudson Bridge

For anyone who lives in either Westchester or Rockland counties, the Tappan Zee Bridge construction is a big deal. What was once an old, rusted, “hold your breath bridge” as seen on the John Oliver Infrastructure segment (go about 8 minutes in), is now being replaced with a brand new cable-stayed bridge. Getting to see this unique perspective during construction was a real treat for the entire company.

Thanks for coming along on this cruise with me, I hope you enjoyed the views of Manhattan! As always please leave any questions or comments in the section below.

Keep exploring,

~V
