Exploring Lyndhurst

Lyndhurst Mansion, Tarrytown, NY

I’ve lived in the Westchester / Rockland county area of NY for over two years now, and one place that I kept saying I would visit but never did is Lyndhurst Mansion. This picturesque mansion and estate dating from the early 1800s is located right on the Hudson River in Tarrytown. They offer tours of the fully restored interior, along with access to the 67-acre property.  The other weekend I finally made my way over and I’m glad I did.

When I visited the grounds I paid $5 to park and then set out with my walking shoes to explore. I was looking at the weather and decided that it may be my last chance to get out and enjoy the summer sun, so I skipped the interior tour and decided to stay outside. There are so many different features of the grounds (like this cool old conservatory) that this is definitely a great spot to explore for a few hours.

I stopped under this beautiful tree for a while to lay in the grass, and I even snapped the view from under my big sun hat.

The bowling pavilion was definitely a surprising addition to the property, but at least they have interesting sculptures to welcome you and beautiful ceiling paneling.

And last but not least, the mansion itself! Thanks for coming on this close-to-home adventure with me, I hope it inspires you to find local hidden gems to explore! As always, please leave any questions, suggestions, or comments in the section below,

Keep exploring,

~V
