EDIT: I wrote this 13 Jan 2021, but never posted it because I wasn’t sure when I would get to Charleston. I’m back dating it as a funny note to myself. I made a bunch of these for places I planned to go…but had to delete many of them because my plans kept changing. I love that the one I actually finished was the place I ended up <3

One of the best parts of going to a new place is finally getting to see all of the things you’ve been researching and saving photos of in your phone for months. Here are 5 things that have piqued my interest in Charleston, SC.
1. Photographing the Architecture
I’ve seen many a blog post or photo shoot done here, and the pastel colors & classic architecture downtown are gorgeous to me. I can’t wait to just walk around with my camera and explore.
2. Visiting Sullivan’s Island
Only a 20 minute drive from the middle of downtown, or under an hour by bike, Charleston has the best of both worlds by having a walkable downtown and a beautiful beach close by. I love walking in the sand, and my little dog (who has been to the beach once) also loves it, so I can’t wait to dig our toes in!
3. Eating at Husk
I’m not a huge foodie when it comes to fancy foods, but after watching the Chef’s Table episode about Husk and the founder Sean Brock, I knew I had to go. The passion that this kitchen has for southern food is incredible, and a true celebration of local farmers and seasonal food. I love a good meal with a good story behind it, and this definitely fits the bill.
4. Being in a Bike Friendly Town
I don’t ride my bike a lot around Baltimore because I tend to be able to get most places I want to go on foot (not to mention I have to store it down some stairs and … yea I ‘m lazy). Anyway, biking can be a great way to explore a new place & maximize what you see, so I’m hoping to find a bike rack that fits on my little Mini Cooper (more to come on the adventure of fitting all of my stuff in there later…) so I can have a set of two wheels to explore with.
5. Shopping / Eating Along King Street
What Charleston lacks in big city energy it (apparently) makes up for with charm. Lots and lots of charm. And lots of good food I can definitely see enjoying a few afternoons strolling along the main streets and popping into cute shops. Maybe I’ll grab a sweet tea for my stroll. Am I being very stereotypical assuming things about the south? Yup. Will I enjoy it regardless? Absolutely ;)
