Anyone doing some research about Andalusia in the south of Spain will come across recommendations to visit at least one hill town. There are many to choose from, but if you are staying on the Costa del Sol near Malaga, or are generally in the area, a visit to Ronda is a must.
From visiting the oldest bullring in all of Spain (and stopping into the attached museum), to exploring the old town and taking a peek over the side of their famous bridge, Ronda is a perfect place to explore for a day.
Take the train from Malaga or drive in, and make your way to the Bullfighting Museum in the middle of town. You can explore the ring itself, and then spend some time learning about famous matadors and bulls. Don't forget to stop into the gift shop as well, they have a cool selection of souvenirs to remember your day with.
After a morning train and the museum, make your way towards the bridge, but take the last left before you reach it to sit in the shade and enjoy some tapas at one of the restaurants down this lane.
Other than the museum, there isn't much that you need to go inside to see, so spend the afternoon walking along white washed lanes and keeping an eye out for the perfect views. Start in the newer part of town (where the train staion is), make your way over the bridge to explore the old town, then swing around to cross over the lower bridge to get back to the train.
Your explorations should hopefully bring you to the lower bridge on your way back to the train station, where you'll find a series of terraced parks that provide a perfect view of the bridge. Pictures will never do the scale proper justice, so definitely add this to your spain bucket list to see for yourself!
On your way back to the train station, make sure to pop into the little attached cafe to check out some of the famous Ronda bull fighting posters. I actually bought a copy of the silver one on the right at the bull fighting museum!
