A Night in Kingman, AZ

If you saw my novel of a previous post about major plan changes, you may have seen the one sentence where I mentioned staying in Kingman, Arizona for a night on my drive from New Mexico out to LA. The hotel I stayed in was definitely unique. I wouldn’t really recommend it to folks wanting something fancy, but if you are driving along I-40 in AZ and don’t mind a bit of weird quirk, this spot might be for you. Personally I found the whole place to have a similar vibe to a lot of places along Route 66: a bit old, worn out, and in need of a 21st century refresh. I’ll let the photos speak for themselves, just know if you want to walk into a room and have that squeaky clean and fresh feeling of some hotel chains… this isn’t the spot for you.

Last note: I feel like the owner belongs in renaissance Italy, where it was a bit more normal to paint on the walls ;)

Key info:

  • Hotel - Ramada by Wyndham, Kingman AZ

  • Cost - Under $100 for one night

  • Dogs - Allowed, with minimal pet fee < $20

  • Breakfast - Buffet included (minimal options for my fellow vegan friends)

  • Dinner - Restaurant on site, I didn’t try it out since I had Fred but it’s apparently route 66 themed.

Hopefully you found this place as weird as me. It definitely kept my drive interesting.
