Fiber Arts at the Tate Modern

When you go to London to visit some riggers installing a circus show…. of course the only exhibit they want to see at a museum is about rope / fiber ;-P As an avid needlepointer I also have a fondness for fiber arts so I wasn’t that hard to convince! I had also never been to the Tate Modern so a museum visit was set!

While the main reason we went to the Tate was to see the show below, there was also an installation in the main hall / soaring lobby at the same time that paired really well as a celebration of fiber arts. The long chandelier of fabric (above right) was a piece by Cecilia Vicuña.

The main reason for our trip was this fiber exhibit by Magdalena Abakanowicz. The scale and texture of her works were really incredible, and of course even more interesting to both a circus rigger and a stitcher. I’m happy we were able to go.

Thanks for coming to the museum with me in London. There are so many amazing museums and other cultural experiences all around London, there is truly something for everyone to enjoy!

Happy Travels
