In early October I spent a week in Cincinnati for my annual internal work conference. I’ve shared a lot of visits there in the past few years but this time I finally checked something off my Cincy bucket list: visiting the Cincinnati History Museum. I also got up to the usual business of having a few good meals and enjoying the architecture downtown while I wasn’t at work. Overall an enjoyable week!
The flight there had some gorgeous cloud views, which was a lovely way to start the trip!

I landed early on Sunday morning, dropped by bag at the hotel, and then went out for a delicious breakfast at the nearby Sugar n’ Spice diner. I had some amazing cinnamon roll French toast, and then got a cute bonus with my meal. Turns out every order gets a rubber duck of your choice. They even bring you a tray of them to choose from.
After breakfast I decided to make use of the lovely weather and walk all the way from downtown to the museum. It’s housed in the old train station, so it was a long walk. But worth it!
~ Cincinnati Museum of History ~
The train station used to be a major hub, and is the inspiration behind the justice league headquarters for any comics fans out there. The museum is half local history and half natural history. I enjoyed the history side, with the giant scale model + train set of Cincinnati, but found the natural history side to be more for kids. My favorite part was definitely the central great hall though. What an incredible place to start or end a voyage for travelers of old!!
My favorite group of figures in the giant mural
Amazing old-school font usage throughout the museum / old station
Throughout the week I had some lovely walks around the city and enjoyed some of the beautiful architecture & street art / murals
Travel date night… with my book ;P
Dinner: Aladdin’s - Mediterranean food, lots of healthy and veggie friendly options
Drinks: Longfellow - Cocktail bar, great vibes and delicious cocktails
After a good week of work, and a solid bit of exploring, I caught a flight back home. Managed to get a great view of downtown Cincinnati as we left.
Thanks for coming along with me to Cincinnati for the week. Please drop your recommendations in the comments so I can go explore some more on future trips!
Happy Travels
