Charleston Eats - April 2024

April Eats:

Here are all of the noteworthy places where I ate in Charleston, SC in April 2024.

Camellias - Inside Hotel Bennett, on King Street / Marion Square Downtown

  • Step into a pink dream, hidden within the Hotel Bennett in downtown Charleston. Usually a champagne bar, you can come in here most evenings for a snack or bite to eat and a cocktail and enjoy the highly instagramable decor.

  • They also have afternoon tea from Thursday - Sunday, which is a very fun way to celebrate a special occasion or have a reason to dress up a bit. Tea is by reservation only, so check online for times & bookings. It’s a little pricy, but definitely a lovely experience to do every once in a while. I went with a few friends for a birthday, so we had a delightful time being fancy together!

  • Special bonus for me: they have a fully vegan tea option (same cost), just make sure to add the request into your reservation. I think that can all be done online, but I recommend calling and confirming just in case.

Dinner at Chasing Sage (monthly Spotlight)

Chasing Sage is my favorite restaurant downtown. I come here often for a fantastic time, so here is a delicious meal I had there this month.

The lore of Little Foot ~ I became a regular at Chasing Sage soon after moving to Charleston in June 2022. I held my birthday dinner here in November 2023, and the wonderful owner Cindy added this funky little dinosaur to my birthday dessert plate. I named him Little Foot (Land Before Time reference, iykyk), and started to bring him with me for dinner as a funny photo op. It never fails to make the staff chuckle. So say hi to Little Foot, he is the gem that ends up in most of my CS food photos. Have fun with your food folks.

This mushroom wellington was incredible

My beloved butterscotch budino. I cry tears of joy when this comes back on the menu every season.
