December 2025 Highlights

December highlights

  • Family came down for Christmas and I got to show them around a lot.

  • Decorating cookies with my book besties.

  • Drove to Wilmington, NC and back in a day for work.

  • Monthly Silent Book Club Charleston meetups at the Library (annual book exchange) & All My Exes bar in Avondale / West Ashley.

  • I somehow didn’t take food photos this month, and didn’t go out much with all the thanksgiving leftovers + moving into the new house + Christmas, so no Charleston Eats this month either.

Family Time

My cousin and his wife came down for Christmas and I got to show them around Charleston. I showed them the sights, did some history touring, and even made sure they got to try some Carolina BBQ.

Holiday Decorations & Exploring Charleston

I took my cousins to explore Charleston and we managed to see and do a few different things:

  • Taking a stroll South of Broad to see decorated houses, rainbow row, and the Battery

  • Visiting the pier under the Ravenel bridge for the harbor view

  • Morning at Folly Beach

  • Walk around Hampton Park + Lunch at Rodney Scott BBQ

  • Historical tour with narratives of the enslaved at McLeod Plantation (highly recommend)

  • It’ll look like I mostly took photos of trees… which is what usually happens when I see awesome oaks

Silent Book Club Charleston - Monthly meetups

We met twice this month, first at the Main Library Branch downtown for our annual Book Exchange! Then we had our second meetup at the bar All My Exes in Avondale / West Ashley to close out the year. Such a fun mix of events, check out the Instagram page for some bonus events in the next few months!

Random house updates:

  • I passed my final inspection and got my CO this month!!! WOOOOOO!!!

  • I still have a few projects to finish but I’m focusing on just getting to finally live here :D

  • I did manage to install my own cable lines under my house because the internet company wouldn’t and a few different services either ghosted or wanted to charge me $1600 to run… one cable. One cover all and a new closeness with my crawlspace later… the internet works!

  • My friend gave me a housewarming present: a painting of my doggo Fred meeting a lovely cow at a local winery we all went to. And she made it herself!! I immediately hung it up as the first thing to go on my walls. I love my friends.
